AKDYNA ( cushion )
Torne Harad, Skane
Sweden

Article by a member of AKREP, Oriental Rug Society in Gothenburg.

This akdyna ( cushion ) from Skane is made in Twist-technic, which was the most popular technic in that area at the 18th and 19th centuries.
The earliest known cushions from Skane are made in that technic and are dated at the end of 17th century.

The pattern of the cushion is rare, but can be seen on a "jynne" in the book
Gammal Allmogeslojd by Malmohus Lans Hemslojdsforening 1926.

Aroud the cushion is a multi-coloured fringe.
The back-side is in a technic called "rosengang".

In our Gallery ( see below ) you can find another akdyna from Skane.
